At last. My first blog. =)
I'm still not sure what a blog means, though. From other blogs that I have read, it seems that it's like a web diary or something... which is kind of gay... I mean, I have never written a diary before. Not even for myself to read. And now with this blog thing, I'm supposed to write a diary, for everybody to read it? It seems a little bit weird.
Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try....
Well, where should I start?... Let's see... this morning I was in a rush... didn't wanna be late to meet the International division CEO of the company I work for... It was kinda cool to meet some high level positions there... chatting, laughing... it surely gives somebody like me a boost of confidence and pride to work for the company...
At first, I didn't know what the meeting was for.... I anticipated a seating luncheon and some presentations on the company... and of course, I was wrong... hahaha... the first agenda was some kind of internal press conference regarding a 500 grand charity given to UNESCO, to help education in Indonesia... it's about giving to people, and business are made by people, the CEO said, to note that it's not pure charity... someway the business is affected. I couldn't agree more. It's definitely an important role in doing business....
The second agenda was a discussion with an HR leader. This was really cool. The room was packed with 20+ "high pot" people from various business in Indonesia.. and I was one of them!... The schedule was too tight, though.. I had this question that I wanted to ask, and was given a chance to speak up... I asked about the elimination of Green Belt / Black Belt projects in Consumer Finance.... but I guess the BELS training was right... I need to sell ideas more rather than just tell ideas.... I'm not sure if they know how I feel about the question... maybe I didn't articulate it properly... they seemed to be a bit defensive ... and I seemed to be asking a kind of controversial question, from a departmental point of view... Actually, what I meant was totally 180 degrees. I guess the lesson learned is that don't be overwhelmed of the situation, say the correct word, and if they don't understand, try to say it again... what I meant from my question was the link between the certification and people development in HR's point of view.... oh well.... I'm still a third year rookie... when I am a 5 yr veteran probably I'll be able to do it differently... there's still plenty of chance... especially because being a global company, there's still a plenty of room to shoot.. and probably score.. someday... just gotta keep focused n keep it real...
Well, tomorrow (Wednesday @ noon) there will be another opportunity to prove them my game... a chance for Japan... and I'm not gonna blow it.
